The idea is music zipped up in your backpack, a world of sound to be found everywhere and nowhere, always on the move, never on the run. Music as the ideal form of life, the ultimate creation, your faithful daily companion. Lucky Loop is the brainchild of Hamburg born musician, sound designer, computer expert, producer, and composer, Jörn Erkau.
The story of Lucky Loop begins with the 1994 album release of the same name. Through the combined use of drum-n-bass, trance, pop, and house elements make the Leaving This Planet Sound Design Studios unique. Even as early as the Studio's 1994 founding, Erkau possessed a solid reputation. By 1996 he had not only co-produced the Hanseatic Jungle Act Green Piece, but also arranged the soundtrack for Drifting Show, for the internationally acclaimed avant-garde dance company COAX. He also worked as a music-consultant for the Goethe Institut on various documentary film projects.
One year later Erkau produced the album Mechanical Man on Soulciety East/West. The media response to it's funky expedition into drum-n-bass territory was enthusiastic. Mechanical Man was followed by mix-assignments for Missy Elliot ("I Can´t Stand the Rain" and "Beep Me 911"), the production of the Weather Girls album in 1998, and the supervision of compilations such as Bass in Your Face (East/West). In 2000, the Rivera Rotation release of "Latinica Witch" for Lounge Records (with the track composed and produced by Jörn Erkau) landed in the Top 10 of the German Club Charts (DCC).
His singles, "On the Beach" and "Yes You Are" were equally well received and used on many compilations worldwide. Erkau is closely involved with Pete Rivera´s Rivera Rotation and plays an active role in their warm house sounds and club-music. Frequently, the name Lucky Loop can also be found in the re-mix credits, most recently in the project Seductive Souls ("Prisionera De Tu Amor", for Lounge Records, 2003).
Lucky Loop stands for a unique downbeat sound, created by Jörn Erkau. Tracks like "Sambaspass", and "Take a Look", which was recorded in collaboration with Great Britain's No. 1 poet Lemn Sissay, as well as "Better Days" have appeared on compilations everywhere. All over the globe you can now listen to Erkau´s mix of smooth Electronica-Jazz and Fusion elements.
At the beginning of this century Erkau founded his newest company, Soundcom. The Hamburg-based Soundcom is specialized in sound design-service, collaborating with leading web and advertising agencies. His experience as composer and producer bring additional benefits to production of Internet and multimedia presence.
